Talk: Aldhelm and his Legacy – 675 to 2025

*Athelstan 1100 is working with Malmesbury Abbey to fill the Abbey as part of a celebration of the 1,350^th anniversary of Aldhelm becoming the first Abbot of Malmesbury Abbey and there is no one better to tell the story of Aldhelm and his lasting legacy than historian Tony McAleavy.  

We also want to help raise funds to ‘Save our Abbey Roof’. There is no charge to attend this special event but you will be asked to give generously to the Malmesbury Abbey Roof Fundraising appeal.

The fact is that Malmesbury's amazing Abbey is currently classed as a 'Building of National Importance in Distress!' Major work on the roof is required with a need to replace and repair cracked and broken tiles and slates, replace lead flashing, and restore the rotten or missing Medieval Wallplates.
