In 2024, Malmesbury will play host to a bumper programme of events to mark the 1100th anniversary of the accession of King Athelstan – who has a very special relationship with the town.

Athelstan 1100 is a major not for profit community commemoration and celebration of an important part of Malmesbury’s history and the history of England.

Becoming a ‘Friend of Athelstan 1100’ is a great way to get involved and help Athelstan 1100 be as inclusive and as good as possible this year and in the legacy it creates for the future.

• Be recognised in the Athelstan 1100 Souvenir Programme and on the Athelstan 1100 website (both optional).

• Receive a copy of the Athelstan 1100 Souvenir Programme, (hard copy in Malmesbury, pdf copy if international or not able to attend the Malmesbury based events).

• Receive a free copy of each of our special Athelstan 1100 publications, including ‘My Adventures with Athelstan’, the ‘Guide to the Athelstan 1100’ exhibition at the Athelstan Museum’, the ‘Guide to Malmesbury’s Athelstan Banner Trail’, the ‘Guide to Malmesbury’s Big Athelstan Dig’ and more, (hard copy in Malmesbury, pdf copy if international or not able to attend the Malmesbury based events).
