Abingdon to Wallingford

75 miles completed. 55 miles to go. Day 5 was along a glorious stretch of the Thames and delivered treat after treat. The Mayor of Malmesbury is now

past the halfway point on the Athelstan 1100 Pilgrim Way Walk! There was the additional mild peril of needing to be at Benson to catch the last ferry of the day if we were to be in time to meet the Mayor of Wallingford. On the way we inspected a coin of Athelstan minted in Wallingford around 1095 years ago, enjoyed the company of the Chair of the Thames Path Partnership, met the youngest ever British male Olympian!, and received a fantastic greeting by the Mayor and councillors of Wallingford.

If you would like to support the Mayor of Malmesbury and the effort to reach Kingston upon Thames with Athelstan's crown in time for the 1100th anniversary of Athelstan's coronation, please donate to the Mayor's Charity Appeal in aid of HEALS and the Malmesbury and District Foodbank. https://www.givewheel.com/fundraising/9061/mayor-of-malmesburys-charities/

You can still be on the walk. The six days still to come are on Tuesday the 26th and Wednesday 27th August and Monday 1st to Thursday 4th September. There is no charge to be on the walk. We've got a minibus going to and from Malmesbury on each day we are walking and to provide support each day.
