Eyes Turn to Carnival and Wessex Week
Anglo-Saxon Malmesbury proved a great hit and a wonderful conclusion to our month of Athelstan 1100 events this summer. Regia Anglorum created an immersive and memorable Anglo-Saxon village for a weekend on the town's beautiful St Aldhelm's Mead, which was visited by hundreds of engaged visitors and, of course, there was a demonstration of shield walls clashing each afternoon.
Thanks to Kevin Steele of Red Drone for the aerial image - and we'll provide a link to Kevin's short video in Explore Malmesbury soon - and Richard Harris for the village image.
Now Malmesbury's Athelstan and Anglo-Saxon attention shifts to Malmesbury's Carnival - an event packed August with the famous Carnival Procession featuring a a prize for the best Athelstan themed entry on Saturday August 31st - and Wessex Week starting on the 19th October - https://wessex-week.org/
